Used Cars on Indianapolis’ East Side

Our used lot sits on Shadeland Avenue in ZIP 46219, which puts it inside the same few square miles as Irvington, Warren Park and most of Warren Township. If you live on this side of the city, buying used here means a short drive rather than a trip around the Interstate 465 loop.

This page covers what we stock, how Honda’s certified program works, and the thing worth checking on any used car sold in a salt belt: what road salt has been doing to it underneath.

What We Stock

Our used inventory is not Honda-only. It runs across manufacturers, in the mix a Honda store accumulates through trade-ins: sedans, SUVs, minivans and pickups at a range of ages and prices.

Three ways to browse, depending on how you shop:

Used-vehicle deals move separately from new-car offers, and our used specials page is where those sit.

Certified Hondas, and What Certification Actually Buys

A certified pre-owned Honda is not a dealer designation. HondaTrue is the manufacturer’s program, the warranty is backed by Honda rather than by us, and the tiers differ more than most shoppers expect.

Tier Model years Mileage Powertrain coverage
HondaTrue Certified 2021 and newer Under 80,000 7 years or 100,000 miles
HondaTrue Certified EV 2024 and newer Under 80,000 Battery 8 years or 100,000 miles
HondaTrue Used 2016 and newer No limit 100 days or 5,000 miles

The gap between the top tier and the bottom one is wide, so the label alone does not tell you what you are getting. Both HondaTrue Certified and HondaTrue Used include a manufacturer inspection with a downloadable report, a vehicle history report, roadside assistance, trip interruption coverage, a 3-day exchange policy and no deductible on covered repairs.

Ask which tier a specific car qualifies for before you compare it against an uncertified one. Read the full certified Honda program terms if you want the complete table.

What to Check on a Used Car Bought Here

A car that has spent its winters in Central Indiana has been through road salt, and that is the honest difference between it and the same model out of a dry state.

Indiana’s transportation department spread 257,000 tons of salt statewide in the 2024 to 2025 season, running plow-and-salt passes on every interstate, US route and state road every 2 to 3 hours until the pavement cleared. Indianapolis city crews added more than 24,000 tons of their own that winter, against roughly 14,000 in each of the two winters before it. Shadeland Avenue, US 40 and Interstate 70 are all heavily treated routes, so a car driven daily on this side of the city has seen plenty of it.

On any used car:

  • Look underneath, not just around: surface rust on a subframe is normal here and not disqualifying. Flaking, layered rust on brake lines, fuel lines and the exhaust is the problem, because those are the parts that fail rather than just look bad.
  • Check the rocker panels and wheel arches: salt collects where road spray sits, and bubbling paint at the bottom edge of a door is usually rust working outward from behind.
  • Ask for the inspection report: every HondaTrue vehicle has a downloadable one. On any other used car, ask what was inspected and what was replaced.
  • Read the history report for where the car lived: a car that spent its life in a southern state and arrived here recently has a different underside than one that has done ten Indiana winters.

A used car here remains worth considering when you look at the right things, and the inspection paperwork is worth more in this market than in a dry one.

Who Shops Here

Irvington sits about a mile and a half west of our lot, and Warren Park, Cumberland and most of Warren Township are inside the same short drive. That is the practical reason this page exists: an east-side buyer can see a car, drive it, and be home without crossing the city or riding the Interstate 465 loop.

It also shapes what comes through on trade. These are cars that have spent their lives on Shadeland Avenue, US 40 and Interstate 70, all heavily salted routes, which is why the undercarriage check below matters.

Trading In

When replacing rather than adding a car, the trade is usually the deal’s largest number after the purchase price. Get an estimate before shopping to simplify the conversation, and value your trade online before visiting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Our used inventory runs across manufacturers, in the mix that accumulates through trade-ins. Browse the full used inventory to see what is currently listed.

Certification is a manufacturer program with a Honda-backed warranty, a required inspection and a downloadable report. An uncertified used car carries whatever remains of its original warranty and no added coverage. The certified program page has the full terms.

HondaTrue Certified covers 2021-and-newer vehicles with under 80,000 miles. HondaTrue Used reaches further back, to 2016 and newer, with no mileage limit but much shorter coverage.

Surface rust is normal here and is not by itself a reason to walk away. What matters is where it is and how far it has gone: flaking rust on brake lines, fuel lines or the exhaust is a real problem, while light surface rust on a subframe generally is not.

Indiana spread 257,000 tons statewide across the 2024 to 2025 season, and Indianapolis crews added more than 24,000 tons within the city. State crews run a plow-and-salt pass on every interstate, US route and state road every 2 to 3 hours during a storm.

On any HondaTrue vehicle, yes. Every one carries a downloadable manufacturer inspection report. On an uncertified used car, ask what was inspected and what was repaired before it was listed.

Yes, and there is a filtered view for them: used vehicles under $25,000. What is listed changes as cars sell.

It depends on the car. Certified vehicles carry Honda-backed coverage that varies by tier. Uncertified vehicles may still have factory warranty remaining depending on age and mileage. Ask on the specific vehicle rather than assuming either way.

Yes, and they run separately from new-car offers. The used specials page carries the current ones, and the new Honda specials page carries the new-vehicle side.
