3 Excellent Asian Restaurants in IndianapolisIndianapolis, Indiana is a great city for food lovers. Cuisines from different cultures are found right in the city, including several Asian cultures. You can enjoy Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other Asian cuisines in some of the city’s most popular restaurants. Here are three of the best places for Asian food in Indianapolis.

Bento Asian Bistro

Bento Asian Bistro on Indiana Avenue is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. for dining, delivery, and takeout. This is a great place for a relaxing and casual dinner with exceptional food. Bento specialties include sushi, Thai, and Chinese styles. If you’ve never been, the Bento Special dish is a good way to start. It comes with four California rolls, a spring roll, a cheese-filled wonton, and rice or noodles. The orange chicken dish — deep-fried chicken, broccoli, and a sweet orange sauce — is another popular menu item.

Even if you don’t have time for a meal, stop by for a fruit smoothie or bubble tea. A Taiwanese tradition, bubble tea is a sweet drink made with large tapioca pearls that come in many flavors.

Siam Square

For more Thai cuisine, check out Siam Square. In addition to a full menu of traditional items, guests will enjoy an extensive list of wine and craft beers. Siam Square prides itself on its vibrant flavors and unique dishes. They are open every day, except Monday, for lunch and dinner. Start with a fresh Siam roll: ground chicken, shrimp, and veggies all wrapped in rice paper and served with peanut sauce.

For a delicious appetizer, try the Yum Softshell dish, which features soft-shell crab that is breaded and tossed in lime juice then combined with red onions, cilantro, and tomatoes. If you like stir-fry dishes, try Pad Prik King, which consists of stir-fried pork, chicken, shrimp, or tofu with red curry paste, bell peppers, green beans, and kaffir lime leaves. The dessert menu features several scrumptious options, such as bananas wrapped in wonton shells, fried until golden, and fizzled with honey.

Mikado Japanese Restaurant

In the heart of downtown Indianapolis on Illinois Street, Mikado Japanese Restaurant provides guests with high-quality sashimi, sushi, and more. Offering family-size meals and smaller dishes for one or two, this restaurant is a great place to go no matter the crowd or occasion. The menu features many mouth-watering appetizers, such as a vegan Futomaki roll and pork dumplings in garlic soy sauce. If you’re feeling spicy, try the Fire Roll, a sushi roll made with spicy tuna, fresh jalapeños, and habanero tobiko. For dinner, try the soba noodles topped with black Angus rib-eye steak.

Mikado is the perfect place for some fun times with friends over drinks because the restaurant offers several spirits and cocktails you won’t find just anywhere. Shōchū, sake, and other traditional Japanese beverages are available. Shōchū is distilled from sweet potatoes, brown sugar, barley, rice, or buckwheat, so it’s sweeter than typical liquors.
